March Notes:
A prideful first occurred for Park Avenue Talent on Valentine’s Day as the Café Carlyle, Feinstein’s and the Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel – the best cabaret venues in New York City - sourced from us terrific artists that produced sold out shows, each venue being supported by a different staff member. Can you match the artists; Barb Fasano and Eric Comstock, Ashley Brown and Christine Ebersole, to the correct venue?
Our first ever artist showcase on January 10, 2010 was a hit at the Café Carlyle, presenting thirteen award winning artists/groups performing in 15-20 minute segments to wide acclaim by the APAP attendees. Artists appearing included Barb Jungr, Barbara Fasano and Eric Comstock, Ryan Silverman, Eldar, Judy Kuhn, Loston Harris, Earl Rose, Tony DeSare, West 73rd (Kurt Weil Group), Aaron Weinstein, Jay Leonhard, Howard McGill and Dan Nimmer. We are invited to return again for our showcase at the Carlyle in 2011. A DVD of the event is available so please call if interested in any of these wonderful artists for your event or venue.
Our London based NYC 2008 cabaret artist of the year Barb Jungr returns to the Café Carlyle in February/March with her new “River“ show and to the Metropolitan Room in May. Her “The Men That I Love” album being released now in Europe and in the USA in May is already receiving outstanding reviews for its New American Songbook interpretations of Springsteen, Simon, Cohen and other greats.
Ashley Brown continues on tour this Spring appearing with the Ottawa National Arts Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Ashley’s “Speak Low” album just released on Ghostlight Records is receiving considerable airplay as well as Eldar’s new album Virtue on Sony Records. Don’t forget Bruce Katz’s new album Project A with Joel Frahm which remains in a consistent weekly top seven in radio play since its August release, featuring Aretha Franklin inspired jazz interpretations.
Look for Karen Kohler and Christinane Noll at Feinstein’s, Barbara Carroll and Jay Leonhart at Bucknell University and Helen Merrill is on her way to perform at the Blue Note in Tokyo, all in March.
Following the brilliant Barb Jungr in March at the Café Carlyle is the captivating Lea Salonga and the incomparable Leslie Uggams so looking to Spring entertainment in NYC is inviting.
